Democrats Want to Abolish ICE

Richard A. Viguerie, Chairman, FedUp PAC

And that means unlimited illegal immigration—including criminals

Ms. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, an avowed Socialist, became the poster girl of the leftist media when she secured the Democrat nomination for Congress in her overwhelmingly Democrat congressional district in New York City. She started the movement to abolish ICE when she posted on her campaign website: "It's time to abolish ICE…"

Abolishing ICE will be a real possibility if the Democrats win control of Congress in November. But abolishing ICE would create a real danger to law-abiding Americans.

ICE stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Abolishing the entire agency would end its role in fighting cyberattacks and human trafficking. But even abolishing only the department the leftist Democrats hate the most—Enforcement and Removal Operations, which detains and deports undocumented immigrants—would open up America to all illegal criminals already inside the United States.

In the last fiscal year, ICE arrested 105,736 immigrants with criminal convictions. If ICE had been abolished last year, these criminals would have remained untouched by the law. And this figure doesn't include the likes of Cristhian Bahena Rivera, who has been arrested for killing 20-year-old Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts, and who had been residing illegally in the U.S. for four to seven years without deportation.

In addition, the leftist Washington Post reports that at least 178,000 illegals who are convicted criminals "are free pending hearings or appeals, or because the agency has not been able to deport them yet and the Supreme Court has ruled that such individuals cannot be jailed indefinitely."

Abolishing ICE would not only put law-abiding Americans at the mercy of illegal criminals, it would effectively result in an open-borders policy since ICE is the immigration enforcement agency.

The Democrats are not being humanitarians when they call for abolishing or neutering ICE. Their policy would result in tens of millions of illegal aliens crossing our southern border. And that means millions of new Democrat voters. The Democrats would never lose another election.

Democrats jump on Ocasio-Cortez's "abolish ICE" bandwagon

Democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York—a potential 2020 presidential contender—to CNN: "I believe that ICE has become a deportation force … and that's why I believe you should get rid of it…"
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren—another potential Democrat 2020 presidential contender—says ICE should be replaced with "something that reflects our morality and that works," a weasel-phrase way of saying she wants to abolish the present ICE. Vermont Democrat/Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders and New Jersey Democrat Sen. Cory Booker take the same position.

Democrat Senator Kamala Harris of California told MSNBC that it is time to "reexamine" ICE and consider "starting from scratch."

Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Democrat Rep. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin intend to introduce legislation soon to dismantle the agency. No doubt they hope to do this in a Democrat-controlled House.

And these are just a few examples of the growing "abolish ICE" movement among Democrats.

But the Democrats have to hide their ultimate goal

A recent HuffPost/YouGov poll found that only 21% of all responding Americans want to abolish ICE, while 44% oppose it and 35% are undecided. And this is a poll conducted by the far-left Huffington Post.

But look at how different the results were among just Democrats: Only 22% said they have a favorable opinion of ICE, with 61% having a negative opinion, and 4 in 10 Democrats saying they would support ending the agency. This reflects the growing far-Left orientation of the Democratic Party, the element that would have critical influence in a Democrat-controlled Congress.

This is why Democrats and their lackeys in the mainstream media are promoting the movement to abolish ICE, while many Democrat candidates will try to avoid or downplay the issue in their campaigns—the time for action is after they control the House. And this is why conservatives must make sure their Republican candidates emphasize the "abolish ICE" campaign and the real danger to the nation if the Democrats win in November.

Trump takes 'shackles' off ICE, which is slapping them on immigrants who thought they were safe As with virtually all Washington Post articles, this one is slanted against President Trump, but it contains the figures on illegal criminals we have used in this memo.

Abolishing ICE Isn't Very Popular (Yet) This article contains their poll results. Notice this hopeful "yet" in the far-Left Huffington Post.
