Conservatives Say Congress Should Act on Sanctuary Cities

Conservatives are eager to support congressional candidates who would vote for cutting off Federal funds to sanctuary cities and states, according to a poll by FedUp PAC.

More than 97% say they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports financial penalties for sanctuary cities and states.

The term “sanctuary city” refers to cities (and now some states) whose governments have adopted policies to protect illegal aliens from deportation by the Federal government.  The best known case was the illegal alien who killed Kate Steinle after San Francisco, following its sanctuary city policies, turned him loose instead of notifying Federal authorities who were ready to deport him.

President Trump often referred to Steinle’s killing during the 2016 campaign, as well as to other Americans killed by illegal aliens.  Hillary Clinton sharply disagreed with Trump’s policy of deporting illegal aliens.  A Clinton campaign statement declared that “Hillary Clinton believes that sanctuary cities can help further public safety, and she has defended those policies going back years.”

Attorney General Jeff Sessions has attempted to withhold some Federal funding from sanctuary cities, but a Federal judge has blocked the attempt, saying that nothing in Federal law gives the Justice Department discretion to refuse payment.  Legislation to allow withholding of funds has been introduced in both houses of Congress, but the bills have not been brought up for a vote.

The issue of deportations has become one of the most clear divisions between the parties, with most Democrats supporting amnesty for illegal aliens, backing sanctuary cities, and some even calling for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the agency which finds and detains illegals for deportation.  There have also been cases across the country in which mobs have surrounded ICE offices, attempting to prevent them from doing carrying on with their work.

Public opinion polls have shown support for ICE and opposition to sanctuary cities, but the same polls show Democrat opinion to be much more pro-illegal alien, and out of line with the general public and independents.

FedUp PAC is a grass roots organization whose goal in 2018 is to save the Trump presidency by maintaining GOP control of Congress.  FedUp PAC is working to reveal the Democrats as far-left, anti-American extremists who want to transform the United States into a bankrupt socialist nation such as Cuba or Venezuela.  It is not affiliated with any candidate or committee.
