Conservatives Want Deportation, Not Deal, for DACA

Conservatives reject the idea of using DACA as a bargaining chip, preferring that the program be terminated and its beneficiaries deported with other illegal aliens, according to a poll by FedUp PAC.

More than 70% agree that “all illegal aliens should be deported, including those covered by DACA.”  About 26% favor giving amnesty to those covered by DACA if the bill also contains strong measures to improve border security and increase deportations of the remaining illegal aliens, as well as reforms to the immigration system.

DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) is an unconstitutional temporary amnesty put in place by Barack Obama using executive action when Congress refused to enact such a law.  President Trump announced last September that he would end the program in March.  Trump appears to have been responding to the threat of a lawsuit that would almost certainly have ruled DACA to be unconstitutional as long as it depends on presidential, not congressional, authority.

President Trump and congressional Republicans have been negotiating with Democrats over a deal that would make DACA legal in return for a few concessions on border security.  The efforts seem to have collapsed last week when it became obvious that Democrats and pro-amnesty Republicans were not willing to offer much in the trade for DACA.  They hope to use the threat of a government shutdown to obtain a legal DACA without concessions.

FedUp PAC is a grass roots organization that wants constitutional conservatives to take over the GOP because Americans are fed up with the Republican establishment.  It is not affiliated with any candidate or committee.
